- ITU(International Telecommunication Union)에의해 정의된 3세대(3G) 무선 통신 국제 표준으로서 International Mobile Telecommunications-2000의 약자.
IMT-2000 표준 제정
- 1999년, ITU는 ITU-R M.1457 추천안(Recommendation)의 일부로서 IMT-2000을 위해 5개의 라디오 I/F를 승인.
- 2007년 10월 18일, ITU는 WiMAX를 6번째의 IMT-2000 라디오 I/F로 추가로 승인.
